With the transformation of a 50’s monastery building into a health center, One Architect had to find a way to open up a closed building. The solution was erecting a central staircase in the original chapel opening up all the wings of the building. Made of wood, the staircase resembles a piece of ‘church furniture’. In doing so the original chapel can still be perceived as intact, including the original stained glass windows.
